Universal Waste Rule Fact Sheet Until recently several wastes, namely batteries, pesticides, mercury thermostats and mercury containing lamps were required to be managed as hazardous waste in full compliance with the Delaware Regulations Governing Hazardous Waste (DRGHW). With the adoption of the Universal Waste Rule (UWR) in Part 273 of the DRGHW, these wastes are afforded less stringent management standards which are dependent upon the amount of universal wastes managed. Please remember this fact sheet serves only as a guide and does not replace the requirements of the DRGHW.
